A few years ago, I had no idea that wineries existed in Texas.  During my weekly wine trips to my local Kroger, I mainly purchased wine from California, Oregon, and Washington. Then, one of my closest friends introduced me to my first Texas wine and I was hooked!

The winery is on a hill and you are greeted by vineyards on your left side and a beautiful home welcomes you with an open patio. The tasting room is very spacious and includes a bar and a wine rack, filled with bottles for purchase.  I decided to purchase a wine tasting, which is priced at $10 for 5 wines plus many options for Napa cheese plates. To my surprise, they had gluten-free crackers, which is a huge win for us due to our diet restrictions. The goat cheese with fig was creamy and sweet and paired well with the salty salami and herb-y cheeses.

My first sample was the 2016 Marsanne  – a dry white wine with notes of honeysuckle, grapefruit, honey, and peach flavors.

The aroma of honeysuckle instantly took me back in time to my high school days when I would eat fresh honeysuckle flowers; it was delicious and so sweet!

The next tasting was the 2017 Montepulciano  – a dry red with notes of mocha and red fruit, with a smooth finish, and hints of black current and dark chocolate.  My all-time favorite dessert is a piece of dark chocolate at night, so the Montepulciano was my favorite.

My third tasting was the 2017 Divine Red -- which is dry red blend of Tempranillo and Aglianico grapes with hints of red berries and dried fruit. At this point, my taste buds were on a roller coaster of rich flavors and I was swooning over the wine. But the tasting must go on! My last 2 samples were the Tempranillo – Cabernet and Wine=C2 2017. Both were made with Cabernet Sauvignon and had rich aromas of dried fruit.

I wrapped up my tastings and purchased the Albarino and  2017 Viognier dry, white wine. The owners and staff were so friendly and helpful with my questions; their Texas hospitality really showed by the interest shown to guests.
